How Do I Clean a Fish Aquarium?
Preventive Maintenance of Aquarium.
When properly and adequately set up, marine aquariums require a little amount of maintenance. But, regular and preventive maintenance of the equipment are always needed, to ensure smooth and proper functioning of the aquarium. For this, monthly and weekly maintenance tasks are required, but a daily inspection of the aquarium quickly eradicates minor problems that may endanger the inhabitants in future.
A series of daily checks are important, especially in the initial days when the first aquatic animals have been added in the aquarium. If the saltwater aquarium has equipments such as pumps and filters, make sure to disconnect the equipments from the electric outlets. Salt water is a good conductor of electricity and hence, can transmit dangerous electric currents that can prove fatal for you as well as for the inhabitants of the aquarium.
Also, while putting your hands inside the aquarium for washing or any other purpose, always make sure that your hands are detergent free or are free from any other toxic ingredients that may prove hazardous to the fishes in the aquarium. It is advisable to wash your hands with warm water before inserting your hands in the aquarium.

The daily maintenance involves regular check of aquarium equipments such as filters, pumps, heaters, protein skimmers, Air stones and so on. Water in the aquarium deteriorates due to improper functioning of filters and stale food. Hence, daily check also involves the daily examination of water.
